Is there any reason why I couldnt leave the piston down in the hole to reduce compression?

I meant from performance standpoint. Will it physically hurt my engine by running the piston .125 in the hole?

PTV clearance certainly won't be a problem. It might hurt your quench but I'll let someone more knowledgeable chime in on that one.
