my 97 lt1 t/a has 112000 miles on it... i was thinking about getting another car because im afraid im going to be putting a lot of money into it.. i just replaced the distibutor and water pump that was 900 bucks with a few hoses and labor... my motor only has 15,000 miles on it though... do you think it will stay reliable past 130 or 140 thousand without any major problems.. thanks guys

I blew one apart just over 25K on it..
Regular stock with minor mods, I would go to 150K before I get it re-built.

Depends, you can get a stock spec rebuild, or a racing one with Shift Kit and Kevlar Clutches.

I got ahold of a Water Pump for $50 when I needed one, Opti I have seen for between $200-$300.. I don't know about Hoses, I have to get one here when I do my Swap..

These Engines are not that hard to work on...you can save a shitload of money by doing it yourself.

Some of us on here should start giving classes on how to do **** with Engines..
I can build LT1's and LS1's all day long..

He said with labor though, so I'm assuming he had it installed at a shop. That's where the other 4-5 hundred is coming from.

If you learn how to do your own work you will save a shitload of $.

damn 500 in labor. is that what thye charge i dont even know how much shops charge i do everything myself. changed the waterpump and opti on friends car and was pretty simple, its a good thing to read on how to do things and try them out yourself and save bunch of money. i remember when i got headers i was wondering how much would it cost a speed shop to do it it was like 700 dollars at speed inc here in chicago that motivated me to do everything myself and save lots of money
