GM 846 and CA emissions testing
Anyone running this cam in CA and passing emissions without finding a "friendly" smog shop? I'm putting together a motor (slowly collecting parts) and want a cam that's not too crazy, but will make good power and pass a smog check with a good tune.

I know the 847 won't, I'm asking about the 846. I'm currently running Edelbrock's LT1 cam, which specs at 218@ .525/ 218@ .525 (1.5RR) 112 LSA. The GM 846 specs at 222@ .509/ 230@ .528 (1.5RR) 112 LSA - a little less lift on the intake, but a little more duration on the intake side, lots more duration on exhaust. I plan to set up the new motor with ~11:1 static compression ratio. I think I can pass with the 846 with a good tune.

My bad - I mis-quoted the cam. Although, from the specs, it sounds tamer that the HOT cam. I'm not impressed with the results I've gotten from the HOT cam myself (13.69@99). However, I'm not sure if I have other issues that could be causing the slow times.
Also from the specs, it should be close with a good tune. Just have the smog test place run a pre-test before you run the final.
