Default Underdrive pulleys??

You don't hear of too LT1s that have aftermarket underdrive pulleys? I know that every bit helps but is it worth it? At Summit BBK sells them for $75 and March is $105. How much horsepower would it free up on a H/C car like mine?
Thanks!

I picked up a March crank pulley and had a retune but I also had a 58mm throttle body put on and more porting done to my intake. I gained almost 20 at the wheels I think so I would imagine around 5 or so from the pulley?

Hmmm doesnt sound to promising with the pullies. Well I already had my 58mmTB on and then got my intake port-matched and a re-tune gave me right at 20rwhp. I think what it will come down to is just testing the pullies out when everything is apart. I'm currently trying to get the most out of my setup which is going to include the addition of a new GM 847 cam for me, so meanwhile I am adding thinner headgaskets, electric wp, etc. Might as well do pullies..I'm not sure how it will work out though because I am deleting my A/C and that requires a separate pulley I believe..

yup. i hear nothing but good things about the AC delete pulley. its not that expeneive either. im sure an underdrive pulley will help. the only reason guys dont really advocate them is becuase the $ to HP ratio is terrible. ive also heard of charging issues with certain pulleys.

LM - It was on a heads/cam engine and I was maxing out my stock injectors. I probably would of had a larger gain if I didn't max them out, because once I got injectors and another retune I gained another 13?

Hark - I would suggest going ahead with the crank pulley since you are trying to max out your setup, (same as what I'm trying to do) every little bit helps. And no charging issues here, but I have a stock sound system.

The piggy-back style pullies can lead to problems. Look for a replacement style, such as ASP.

Most vehicles have belt driven waterpumps which are power hungery, that is how UD pullies got a good reputation. On the LT1 the alternator takes little to spin, the AC shuts off at WOT, the WP is not belt driven which means most of your potential gains come from slowing the PS. You wont get much with them because of this. On a road race car slowing the PS can help avoid overheating it.

Eventuially I will have a UD damper, probably an ATI but at that the UD will be an afterthought the real goal being the quality damper.
