Default Terrible track times tonight *problem found*

Well, went to the track for the first time in this camaro. Ran a best of the night at 13.9 @ 99. I was extremely depressed. This is coming from a LE1 heads and cam, yank 3600 stall, 3.42 gear car. It hasnt been tuned for the cam, just a mail order chip, so im really hoping thats the problem. I just dont know where else to turn

Found problem, see page two

Your having major issues.
Might be a soft spot in the driveline, crappy 60 foot/altitude or bad tune...

I have ran my LT1 only twice at the IRP, and the second run I pulled a 13.89 @ 99.
This was when I was BONE stock.

If I had an LE1 H/C package and got those times, I would be PISSED.
Good luck to you and keep your head up, LT1's with bolt ons run a faster time than that...you got a bug.. find it.

Something is wrong. What was your 60'? You should be trapping at least 110 mph with a really small cam. Plug wires burnt?

How does the car feel? lazy? strong? is it missing? who did your mail order? i would stick a wideband in it to see what its doing fuel wise.

2.1ish 60 foot. I was on crappy tires. However, the tune is a mail order one from ****...i dont remember. The tranny was just rebuilt with upgraded clutches and all that. The car isnt missing and has driven like this since i owned it. I just never really thought differently bc it is my first auto car and i just figured it felt different than my old 6 speed. To say the least, im a little sad. Think i should just start with replacing plugs and wires?

Did you add the mods yourself or buy the car like that? If you did the mods, I would spend the money for some dyno time with a good tuner. If you bought it already modded, you might have gotten screwed.

That 60 is ugly, but it's not tooooo bad. You should be trapping WELL over 100 regardless. You definitely have something wrong.

I'd start with anything that you know you haven't done since you've owned it. Plugs, wires, and a full tune up. Get all new fluids in there and inspect the ones that come out to see if they are normal. Do you have any scanning capabilities?

people are so quick to say how bad the 60' times are but ask the biggest question, whats the elevation,DA?those factors are relevent!
at HRP my old car would 60' 1.76-1.80 and here at LVMS it would 60' 1.90-2.0.the desert is a **** to race in N/A espewcially.
my 96z 60' times are 1.97-2.1 and runs 13.9-14.2 98-101 on hard radials
without seeing your time slip and knowing your tracks elevation and DA for that paticular day is difficult to assume weather or not your car is running correctly for the mods done.
i will agree with burnzilla with the mods done the car should run more mph for sure and the E.T. should also be better, hell you may not have been driving to the best of the cars potential.......any slips to share?

No matter where he is, a trap of 99 is not where an H/C LT1 should ever be.

I second that. My LT1 when it was Stock as soon as I bought it trapped 100mph with the same time. Hotcam, Boltons and basic Head work got into the high 12.5's@110, yours should be right around that easily.
You have a bad Cylinder or something..get that Tune checked, then go from there checking over the whole Engine.

Well, plugs are good. Tomorrow I'm going to throw it on a dyno with a wideband and see whats up. Hopefully that will give me some insight.

Good luck on your car! Did you get a build sheet with the car? Did you verify the cars history? With that set up I would be disapointed with anything less than a 12.6 or 12.5.

I bought the car of a local board (KCSR) and know someone who helped put on the heads and cam. The stall and tranny were bilt while i owned the car. I'm not too worried about the parts, just the tune

i've yet to get to the track since a couple upgrades but with intake, madz28tune, gears, LT's and exhaust i hit a 13.4 with BAD tires don't remember the trap though off hand. got some new suspension parts, better clutch, and upgraded pump and stuff. Should be knocking on the 12's door you have something not right. Go on a back road at night where it's pitch black and pop the hood and rev it and see if you have some arcing. i did and it was holding the car back alot fixed that and new coil, opti, and fuel pump and she woke back up. When did you do the fuel filter last? that was almost plugged on my car and when i changed it i noticed a huge difference also. just maybe your car is in need of a good tune up... look into the plug wire arcing and fuel filter first hand.

if it's your fuel filter, if it's plugged it'll take out your pump too.

Just got back from the dyno, 288/282

I was getting some blue smoke too, which has me really worried. I guess i need to do a compression test. This could be worse than i thought. The AFR held perfectly constant at 12.5-13.0

You should of got more than that.. get a Tune in and see what it does.
Blue smoke could be Rings or Valve Seals. Do a Vacuum test for the hell of it..
