Default Car dies

I have a 97 SS camaro. Ok for the last two days my car has done well for 30 min but after that it dies. It will start to sputter then just die. I put my car in park after i got it started, and reved the engine up to 4K and it sputtered after it got there to 3 K and then just died. I had not moved my foot on the pedel it just lost something. And my temp was at the 3/4 mark on the gauge. It brings up codes for my egr being taken off and a code 1371 engine missfire or ignition system. My fuel pump does turn on and pressurise the system. Any ideas what is going on.

I'm going to guess the opti is going out. High rpm sputtering and cutting out are typical symptoms of that. I would check the coil and plugs/wires first though, as they are much cheaper to fix.

Well i had just replaced the opti 1000 miles ago, and i do have a small leak somewhere but i don't believe that it has gotten wet yet. It may be possible. Would the opti go out only when it warms up. because it is fine untill like 30 min later. it acted different when it went out before. it was crap 24/7.

Yea, that could be it too...something in the Ignition System.
I couldn't see the OPTI goin out when it warms up, that would be kinda contradicting itself being located on the front of the Block..

sounds like it has to be something in the ignition system.

If it only acts up when warm it could be o2 sensors.

Is that how you fix problems?

About the ignition problems put a spark checker on it (you can get one at any automotive store like Harbor freight) Put it on each wire while its running to see if they all get spark.

Second try to test fuel pressure, and maybe a fuel filter. If all else fails throw some new parts at it to see if it fixes it...lol
