Default LT1 Issues

Having a few problems with a 94 Z28. Car starts and runs rough and wont rev past ~2800 rpm. Car sounds awful. Started happening after car was overheating, sounded like the thermostat was stuck open. Went to the parts store and got a new thermostat. Started to replace it and, here's the kicker, the car didn't have a thermostat. Wtf right? Bought it from a private owner, car had never really been run until today so we never noticed the temperature. I've never heard of a thermostat delete.

Any help is appreciated.

That's what it was. Blown head gasket. Thanks for helping us identify it. Good thing my brother just happens to have another LT1 sitting in his garage.
