Question One quick question please.

Im pretty sure I got a noisy lifter, when I start the car up when its cold there is no ticking, but once the car warms up there is a ticking noise and I know it is coming from the valetrain. Right now Im running 5w30 oil (dino). So the question is if I switch to 10w 30 do you think it will quiet down the ticking noise? I guess i need oil thats as thick as 5w 30 is cold when its warmed up to running temperature.

If somebody could steer me in the right direction that would be much appreciated since I know very little about oil and there weights.

Thanks alot
Ryan

My lifter 'tick' works the other way, its there when I first start up, but disappears after a minute or 2 of running.

Yea, lifter tick doesn't work that way that I've EVER heard of. The oil is drained down to the pan, so on initial start there is a tick from no oil. Once it gets pumped up, it goes away. In the winter, it's more along the lines of once it's warmer and thiner and gets pumped up there.

The only thing I can think of, but still doesn't quite make sense, is preignition due to being hot.
