Who grinds custom cams?
#2 a 2800-3000 stall is too small for the 847, look into something in the 4000 range.
If you aren't willing to do that, then get the gm 846 or cc503, they would be suited alot more towards your goals. I had the gm846, and even that cam liked to be shifted at 6500, but 6500 is alot easier on the motor than 7000.

LTs, no emissions or cats running through a GMMG
SS hood with Ram Air
PCMforless tune
What I plan on changing with the cam swap is a 2800 or 3k stall, shift kit and eith 3.73 or 4.10 gears. Other than that that's it.
I appreciate everybodys input.
there are 2 different grinds on the 230/236. One is extreme energy and the other is XFI. The difference is the lift
I have had a 847 fo a while and DD it. My Dad(65yr) drives it as well as my Mom and my wife none have ever had an issue with it.
There might be 5-10hp to be gained with going with a custom, but is it worth it to a car that never goes to the track?? Not IMO.
Some of the smaller cams listed here might be a better choice but not worth the money to swap to IMO. I'd run it and see what you like.
I ran mine for a year and half with a 2800 stall(still have it) and 3.23's. My stall was too tight for the track but just right on the street, I have since swapped to 4.30's and with the 2800 stall it works pretty good although a 4k would really wake it up.
Just some ideas.

He should just go and ask an engine builder for advice, like Harold at Port Pros
