Default Problems with my Camaro

Hey, i'm new to the forum, but I was just wondering what you guys would think the problems would be with my Camaro. Alright here's the deal, I bought it from my cousin, he left the the cowling off and it rained that night....so as of right now i'm thinking it's the pcm. Do you guys know if that would be it and if so how much a replacement would cost. It idles at about 500-600 rpm and when I give it gas it'll take a good 5 seconds to rev to 3000rpm... He also told me that this one guys might have put something in the gas tank..like sugar or something....do you guys know if that would be it....
Thanks in advance

Sounds either flooded or the fuel system is plugged up. Does it smoke ALOT when you start it up? if not then i'd look at changing the fuel filter, first and foremost. Then look into doing a tune up with spark plugs, and wires. After that see into changing the opti if it's NEVER been changed or if the mileage is getting up there. The first thing i do when i buy a car is do a TON of maintinance to it. Even if the owner said he did stuff, i like to be sure. Start with that.~Cole~

also if your filter ends up being THAT plugged it's as good as sure it'll take you pump out. Sounds like the car needs some serious tune up

Well I changed the fuel filter today and it's still running the same.....It doesn't smoke at all at start up though, I guess i'm gonna drop the tank and clean it out, and then order a pcm for it. Do any of you guys know where I could get one for cheap, I know that GM sell there's for around $350, but if I could get it cheaper that'd be great.

Ohh and on the pcm, does it need to be programmed to the car or does it come programmed for it.

do do believe you don't need it programmed. You may have to get one that's year specific. Others may be able to chime in here on that one for me. But while your there, have a cheap one picked up on ebay and send it to MadZ28.com and have them tune it up for ya Very good deal for like $150 and he can tune it to your VIN#. it'd be MUCH easier for me to help diagnose it if i was there. It's tough trying to help out over a Forum
