I just spent over $6k with VRE, they've been great to deal with so far and I wouldn't hesitate to do business with them again.

buffman, what was chad response, he claims he stands behind his work, they use to give a lifetime warrenty on workmanship

Neither of these guys are the one Matt is talking about. Matt is also leaving out that another friend of his has lost bearings in a Golen motor and something went wrong with that motor again this weekend pulling 6" of vacuum and a number of good wrenches onhand did not find an external cause.

I have long said Golen built "decent" or "servicable" engines and many here and elsewhere have blasted those statements. Glad to see a few of you have a clue.

The comments about VRE having a former APE employee are correct, he made a post trying to clear the air on that awhile back I think on camaroz28.com which might be worth finding if considering using them.

Warranty is a good selling point but honestly it is something you should never have to use.
One vendor I have dealt with practically begged me to send parts back over the winter while the car was stored in a snowbank just so he could look things over and measure for any wear. He does things right the first time and therefore rarely gets to see his parts in used condition. That is a good vendor.

Not sure he's ever contacted chad. There should be no reason to, as the motor should have properly been assembled right the first time. If there were any repairs needed, my friend would have to pull the motor, remove everything down to the shortblock and send it back to chad. Not something he wants to deal with.

Advanced Induction is advertising short blocks as coming soon. If their short blocks are as good as their heads (from what I hear), then we may have yet another quality contender to consider.

This post is a bit unnerving, until now I was 100% sure I would be getting my short block from Golen. Guess I'll research a bit more. I'd like to hear more about Port Pros. Little has been said so far but NONE of it is bad.

if you make 3 million$$$$$ a year advance induction is a good place, but if you dont. they do not like dealing w/ the little people.

that is my opinion and several of my friends and people here on the board have had the same results. from what i have read

That was not my experiance atall, those who know me will back me up when I say I have a somewhat tight budget. I just do well at making trhe money I do spend work well for me.

You buy a cheap shortblock and even if the vendor rebuilds it free after the first failure it will still cost you money and hassle. It is cheapest to try and do things ONCE.

there is another option coming very very soon. kind of a hybrid really. just give it about 3 more weeks or so before it becomes public. AI will deal with anyone. the thing you must understand is that THEY do the work , so they are busy. they don't outsource thier work like others do. so they like to keep calls direct to the point and give their advice and go back to work. you get your moneys worth in quality parts also.

I know not wether this is a targeted comment, but I will say this there is a hell of a lot of truth to it. I see a lot of guys that thank vendors for screwing them .

It is truely sad that bullshit sells infinetely more parts than real results but that is reality.
