i would consider the LTCC conversion, and i know there is another option similar to it as well but i cant remember. i believe it only relies on the opti for the signal, but i am not 100% sure. if you search im sure you can find something.
it is my sense of humors opinion, not my brains. 
STUPID people make the opti sound bad, reality is it is a good piece that if often just neglected.
If you want to spend over twice as much to make things much more complicated with no tangible benifit on a mild application then the MSD is for you.
Start paying attention and a lot of advanced users like the opti just fine. It is the ignorant kids with the slow cars who most often say bad things about the opti.

the DELTEQ system is what i was thinking of. and i agree with 96capricemgr, the problems with the opti are overstated. the problem is many people dont pay attention to it much and do something stupid that wouldnt trouble a traditional distributor. do not ever expose to water, that seems to lead to about 40% of the complaints.
