Security light sometimes when i get in my car i turn the key over and nothing happens. all the lights come on low oil check engine service engine soon air bag. oll of them go off but the security light stays on if i leave the key in the ignition after 3-4 mins the security light goes off i turn the key over and it starts fine. I also noticed that key or no key my steering wheel will not lock. what may be causing the problem? i'm not worried about security can i program out the security feature?
I had a similar issue with a camaro I had. It got to the point where it did it every time. It turned out to be a problem with the pellet inside the key not being read correctly by the car and so making the car think that somebody is trying to steal it (GM calls it the VATS). I believe it can be tuned out.
