LT1 MPG Help....
I just got back from a 500 mile round trip in my '95 Camaro Z28. It's an A4 w/3.73 gears, other then that I'm just about stock besides a dynomax muffler. I'm averaging at like 16 mpg on the highway and I'm not really happy with that because the car is my daily driver but yet I like to take it to the tracks whenever I have a chance. I was wodnering if there were some performance mods out there that will not only help out my car performance wise, but help me out with my gas mileage also. I was already having thoughts about selling it and gettin' me a 6-speed, but I like my A4 better when I'm at the tracks.

Yeah I just calculated mine and i got like 13.8 on my last tank. My rockers have slowly come out of lash slightly it seems. (have in the past) o2 sensors is where I would check 1st as well.

I have new 02's, and the car has a good tune up on it. plugs/ wires, fuel filter etc....
I have 3.73's with an M6.
I got 27mpg on the interstate going 75mph. I get 16mpg in town, and that is with me driving like a punkass sometimes.

It sounds like a basic tuneup is in order.
Like they said above; air filter, tire pressure, injctor cleaner, O2s, alignment, plugs and wires ...
Do that before you spend any money on additional mods.
Unless the replacement component is being upgraded (K&N filter, quality wires, etc ...)
I get about 20mpg (~280miles/tank) on the highway and 14 (~200miles/tank) on the street
with a full-weight H/C car, 3.73s and a 4000stall (unlocked below 62mph).
You should be able to do much better than that.

Wow that with a basically stock car. My buddy has a built 396, A3, 3600 stall, and a 3.73 12 bolt with 275/40/17 and he said when he drove it to the track which is about 75 miles up and down hills (not level roads) he got 13.5, but the car runs perfect.
I'm with everyone else, do a good tune up

I just got done doing a lash adjustment, air in tires (way lower than what they needed to be), had a small exhaust leak starting to form that is fixed now. I will see how much I pick up from my previous 14MPG and post back.
