Default What Plug Gap?

What should I gap my plugs too? I have a little more than 11.1:1 compression since my heads are shaved and my block has been decked, but should I use the stock gap or something else? Please let me know. Also I will be using NGK TR55s

.035-.040 stock
.038-.045 MDS box
Is a great starting point. From there you can tune bigger or smaller if needed

How do you know if you need to go bigger or smaller? Just by the way it runs?
