Dude you'll be just fine. A hot cam is extremely mild. I'd be amazed if it hurt your gas mileage by any serious margin. It doesn't even require a tune. Not to say you shouldn't get one though because it will definitely allow the car to run much better. Just sayin that's how mild it is.

with the right tune gas wont be much worse. I'd go alittle bigger though. My friend cam'd his 96SS and used the HC. He wanted bigger but he's driving it everyday in college and he really didnt want a monster. It runs good, but everytime we set side by side.....he gets alittle upset of the out come

I asked this in another thread earlier but how much does the hot cam and 1.6rr's make with supporting intake/exhaust mods..... 50% say its great especially for dd's (which my car is) and the other 50% say trash it. Why is that?? Does anybody have any hp gain difference for the hot cam/ cc503/ gm847?? We all kno that bigger cams will help out in the long run but if someone isnt buildin a strip-only racecar and just lookin to have a bad *** daily driveable car what should they do???

In my oppinion the LT4 hotcam is a bit of an outdated setup, but if you can snag one really cheap then it's not too bad. The CC503 is a very streetable cam and often makes between 350-370 RWHP depending on the supporting mods and whether the car is an auto or manual. The people I know of that went with the 503 have given it nothing but rave reviews. Probably the best off-the-shelf cam there is for a stock headed car, and If not the best it's definitely one of them. I am not sure about the GM847, if I remember correctly that cam is getting into the range where you need head work to take advantage of it. I wouldn't really recommend it for a cam only application but that's just me.

I lost very very little MPG with my entire set up really. Cam, heads, etc... Whole nine yards...

If you design everything to work with each other and tune it right, you won't have some redneck gas guzzling loud *** camaro.
