Lt-1 Tuneup questions.. I'm new here, and I'm new to Lt-1's.. but I'm not new to cars and motors in general. Here's my question. I figure for a general tuneup the standard oil change, plug change, make sure plug wires aren't burned etc.. maybe change the trans fluid while I'm under there. But this optispark thing.. the Z I bought had 130k on it. No maintenance records. It throws a CEL constantly. It gets bad mileage and after 4k I swear it feels like the timing is being retarded, big loss of power. Thinking maybe o2 sensors as well? Is the Opti something I should change while I'm down there? And advice would be much appreciated.

Get the car scanned, see what codes are kicking, they will be listed a DTC, Diagnostic Trouble Code.
As for the milage, if you dont have records I would do it all. Again depending on what codes kick in the system.
Plugs- NGK TR-55's
Plug Wires- Factory, Taylors etc etc
PCV-
Oil chng
Tranny Service
Fuel Filter
o2 Sensors- Ac Delco
As for the opti, it may be or it may not be, run a fuel pressure test, put the guage on, the fitting is in the back of the intake, tape the guage to the window, take it out for a run, it shouldnt drop much, if at all. I wager your pump is dying before opti.
If you need pump I recommend Racetronix
for Opti's and o2 sensors, go to Sam Taylor.
