You don't need a puller to take if off, only if you want to take off the hub too.

For the balancer just unbolt it and pull it off by hand or use a rubber mallet.

Hmmm...what if you want to take off the hub? I've tried just about everything and mine must be frozen on...
I had a puller on there with my 1/2 impact wrench torquing on it at full pressure in my air compressor and the thing still wouldn't come off. Any suggestions?

this is what i did and it worksvery well. get the regular hub puller. use the hub bolt, screw it in 2-3 revolutions. then attache the hub puller and make sure that the long puller shaft sits on the heasd of the hub bolt. procede to remove the hub as u should. now you will need to get a longer bolt to get the hub off completely. but this method will get you going without having to use a threee prong puller.

If you have an advance auto parts close by they rent the tool, it cost 89 bucks to use it (You're basically buying it and returning it, that's how they "RENT" tools). just make sure to go with $89 in CASH so they can give CASH back, not into your credit card because then it'll take few days. by the way, it's a box with a lot of stuff for future use, I myself ended up using buying it after couple of times, but it's nice to find a place to use a toold for FREE, so why not .

You're not using it right then.

The key is that you have to be pushing into the bolt hole and not pulling out on the hub. What I did was to get a long bolt (I think a 5/8) that fits into the hole and drill a small recess into the head of it (large enough so the puller center can fit in without slipping off), then attach the puller so the center tip pushes on the bolt and into the hole.

You can do this multiple ways but you have to do it so the primary force is pushing against the hub rather than pulling.
