Default Head?

I just purchased a full 5.7 LT1 motor out of a caprice and started take it apart and trying to figure out which heads to use... I was told the the cast iron heads flow better, but i kinda doubt that... I do have a set of Aluminum LT1 heads.. which would be better to use...

the cast iron heads do flow better in stock form, but its not enough to consider using them. use the aluminum heads.

Depending what you were doing about a cam I might install it with the iron heads. They work just fine and that would leave your aluminums sitting in a corner till you are ready to get them ported without any downtime till you are ready for the actual swap.

The iron heads pressed studs, tight pushrod slots and tall guides mean that you should probably only trust them too about .530 lift though without modification.
