Default pcm problems

I've been having some weird issues with the car. It is a 94 Ta m6, mostly stock. I keep getting a code 51 eeprom programming error. I cleared the codes and had driven for a week without any codes coming up. Today in the heat at about 3pm I drove home for my lunch break. Shut off the car and came back out about 30 minutes later. Cranked the car over and it fired, than died immediately. Cranked it again and it started up, but after that code 51 was stored in the PCM again. Anyone ever have this problem? Is the PCM fried? I was thinking maybe I have a bad connection somewhere and the heat is agitating the problem? Up until I started it and it died no codes were coming up in the PCM.

anyone help is greatly appreciated.

You never messed with tuning or anything? All I know is EEPROM's are stored memory that can only be changed by a scan tool. The PCM could of had a problem that forgot the EEPROM information. I don't have experience with that particular code, but figured I'd throw some info in.

If it's not a pain for you, you can have someone reflash the PCM in case it lost some vital information.

The service manual has one short page on that error. Here's what it says:

PCM calibrations are stored in the EEPROM (Electronically Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory). The EEPROM is not removable from the PCM. DTC 51 will set if no calibration was programmed in the PCM, or when the pcm detects an internal program fault (checksum error). If DTC 51 sets during normal vehicle operation, replace the PCM.
Sounds like if you didn't recently tune the car then your pcm has a serious issue.
