Yep, pretty easy install. All the wiring is plug and play with the stock wiring. The only wrenching you really have to do is bolting up the coilpacks and the little Delteq processor. Directions are throrough and include pictures of all the important stuff.

But I believe you still need a working opti. If I remember right it still relies off the optical sensor inside the opti. There is not a aftermarket ignition that completely replaces the opti...yet.

^ yup, still uses the optical sensor. I have this setup and it was a complete breeze to install. Plugs right in using factory harness connections. What took the most time was making the taylor wires the right lengths to run where/how I wanted them. The delteq kit comes with wires but, I had other plans for where I was putting them. As for mounting the coil packs on the DS valve cover, thats no problem but, after 2 years, I'm tired of looking at it there since its not a "bling-bling" type part. I'm planning on moving/mounting it somewhere else.

Overall, its easy to install and haven't had any known problems with it in the two years I've had it.

It replaces the distributor part of the opti (cap/rotor) but not the optical sensor part. Those are basically two distinct functions the opti performs.

^ yup-yup!

OPTI-SPARK = optical sensor & spark distribution

I've even seen "pretty" billet covers if you want to seperate the two and just put a cover on the optical half. Not worth the money unless your looking for all the bling you can get!

As long as you're not getting DTC codes 16 or 36, (high and low res pulse signals from the optical sensor), then you're good to go.

Autozone can only scan OBD II. So if you have a 94 or older they can't do it.

yes

Your best bet is to buy a cable for your laptop and then you can read codes yourself for free. check akmcables.com
