Default True Dual Question

Okay I was under the impression you needed either a x or h pipe to connect both sides of the exhaust to equalize the exhaust. But, while talking to a few people they said they dont have a x/h pipe. They just run long tubes and then straight pipe w/ a muffler and dump it before the axle. They said w/ it being such a short exhaust I don't need an x/h pipe and that's its ok to keep them separate. What do you guys think? Which is best for sound? performance? I'm going w/ dynomax bullets and turndowns I'm just not sure if it'd be best to go straight pipe or have a x/h pipe. Also I'll prob run cutouts.

As long as they are equal length pipes on both sides it should be fine, and x or H pipe balance out pressure and help the scavenging effect a bit, usually makes a c hair more power, or torque.

An x-pipe will make more power, and it will keep it from sounding like complete **** like it would without a cross over pipe.

Also, different strokes for different folks. Some swear by one thing and some by others. X pipe is what i see allot though.

I am running an h-pipe and it sounds great. Those that I have heard without a crossover are not impressive (they sound sick)

h-pipes sound the best imo. x,y and no crossover sound like crap. h-pipes give it a real muscle car sound where as an x will give it a racey, exotic sound. and y-pipes just plain out sound like ***

I wanna run pacesetter long tubes on my car and go with true duals. I have a '96 Trans Am and I kinda wanted to run the exhaust all the way because I kinda think T/A's look funny without tips. I might just run long tubes to an h-pipe (since everyone claims thats the best route to go), then go with either dynomax bullets or magnaflow mufflers. I want my exhaust to sound as mean as possible without a cam... It's my daily driver.

If you plan on running the exhaust more then say 14" with mufflers, I would recomend doing a crossover of some sort, you dont want to run two seperate pipes out the back without a balancer.

Tony.

I think it looks nice whenever the true dual exhaust on '93+ f-bodies is ran in the stock path. You know, like underneath the passenger side then over the axle and then they both go their seperate ways from there haha. Na but it looks clean, I also heard it's really expensive to run true duals that way though.

Moroso spiral flows. It sounds better in person, the video doesn't do it justice.
