Default lt1 head studs or bolts?

do LE2 heads on a normally aspirated lt1 require head studs? or could i get new head bolts or even reuse my factory head bolts? as always any opinions or experience is appreciated.

You never want to re-use head bolts. Always get a new set.

However I would definitely recommend studs, as they are much easier to work with if you need to remove the heads again for whatever reason.

Never reused the stockers. If you cant afford studs, the bolts will work, but if you can spare it, go for the the added security.

Never reuse TTY bolts.
A new set of ARP bolts are relatively inexpensive, studs are nice if you have the cash.
I've never had a problem with ARP bolts.

Sorry to hijack, or is this what is being asked. Will i be able to get the heads on with studs and the motor in the car with a/c and everything else? Has anyone done this? Whats your suggestion? Last time i did the heads i used arp bolt, but with the new motor i would like to use studs.

Worse comes to worse, can't you just screw in the studs with the heads placed on the block? The actual clamping doesn't occur until you fasten the nut.

studs are awesome, unless one gets bent out of line.. then whoa man, have fun... AGGRAVATING as hell. i recommend studs, but i dont re-use the nuts when i remove the heads. i always buy new nuts (some dont, but they dont seem to torque right if not)
