Default trans swap

Ok Im thinking about swaping out my M6 for a auto What would be a good auto trans to get if i dont care about OD, I was thinking th400? Do i need to do anything with the computer to run this transmission. I pretty sure I will need to cut the drive shaft. Anyway anyone who has done this or knows about doing it, let me know what i would have to get into to make it work. Thanks in advance

a 400 is a good choice. no u do not need any pcm controls for shifting.

nope, bolt it right in and go. TH350 is a tad lighter and will handle the task just as well so might want to look into that. also, some th350's have short shafts and others have long shafts. one of the two i believe works without having to shorten the driveshaft, i just cant remember which one, ill try to check into that for you.

just remember, you need a torque converter, shifter, etc for the swap. its not THAT cheap, but if you had to buy a brand new 6 spd, it might as well cost about the same.

You'll need to have a couple things done to the programming of the PCM so your not starring at an SES light. The 9" tailshaft TH350 will allow you to use the stock length driveshaft. The majority you'll find though have the 6" tailshaft.

The TH400 will eat up a bit more hp but will give you reassurance of no worries each time you put your foot to the floor. Depending on your hp levels and ultimate goals the Th350 could be fine as well properly built.

Seeing as I have been down both roads, I will never own a car again that I can't drive any day of the week, or take a trip out of town in. Just my .12
