Default Please Help!!!!

Ok I just bought another TA. This ont is a 93 Ram Air car. The car runs super good except when it's under a load it kinda spits and sputters at about half throttle..? When I get on it it will spit a little and if I keep in it it will clear up and go. I can rev it as far as I want when it is park and it revs nice and smooth... I replaced the plugs toady and noticed that only the pass side 4 were black like it is running rich. But the drivers side looked just fone not black at all.?? Why would it be acting like this? Thanks for your help

Change your O2 sensors. This is what mine did when they were bad. An easy way to check them is to unplug them and see if the problem persists.

Yes thats the way to check it. You are keepng the car in open loop and not letting the O2s take over (closed loop). This will etermine if it is infact the O2s. I did it on mine and it solved my problem.

The only other thing it could be is a weak opti.

Sounds more to me like the O2s like mine though.

OK.. I unpluged the o2's and it is not doing it anymore.. But it sure looks like a pain in the *** to get the o2's off. My car has an aftermarket y with Hooker headers. Any way around it?

Pff, try doing the pass side with stock manifolds -_- I nearly shredded my right arm. Nice find on the Firehawk though (unless it's just ram air done by the previous owner).

Well you can but it wouldn't be a good idea because you will run rich and your gas mileage will suck.

also just because it is ram air DOES NOT make it a firehawk. The 93 TAs came with ram air also.

well, running without the o2 sensors is pretty much a toss up. It really depends on the conditions. The o2 sensors allow the computer to compensate for changing conditions so without those it just uses the internal defaults for the reading it gets from the MAF. But if the weather etc is such that the air properties are similar to what the internal calculations are, then you might not see a significant reduction. I can tell you though that running in open loop in a hot/humid climate my gas mileage sucked.

There are no original ram air cars in 1993.... no matter how original they look.... it may have borrowed OEM parts from a 1996 WS6 car, since THAT was the first year of the factory ram air... which was the WS6 package. Thats why Formula350 keeps on passing it as a Firehawk, since those were the only ram air birds that came to the market as ram air model, which were converted by SLP.....

I wasn't aware Ram Air came about till 96. Save Firehawks.
The 1993 Firehawk (only available in Formula trim for 1993) received the SLP package with a functional hood scoop and other performance enhancements that increased power to 300 hp.
And I know ram air doesn't make a Firehawk. I just don't think it's factory ram air. I was subtly giving him crap.

EDIT: Didn't see Transam's post. He got the picture.
