Default start up issues

when i first start up my car it does this crazy *** backfire/mini explosion and starts up for a sec. then dies out. Then doesnt start unless i get in and tap the throttle as if it was carbed. Then after i do that for a few secs then its fine but still feels like it almost wants to die out when comming to a stop.

Sounds like it might be a bad pump.

IE: The pump is surging and only working becuase your giving it throttle.

Lots of other possibilitys though, is the pump new?

no, pump is stock with a 100k on it. I have a fp gauge in the car and its reading between 38-42 psi on idle. Not saying its not but i dont think its the pump. And once it gets started then its all good after i do it for a few seconds. Then maby every 10 min or so it seems like it stumbles a tad from a stoplight then kicks back in. So maby it is goin out.

check out your throttle body. your IAC passage may be clogged with carbon and ****, and the reason why the car runs is because you open the throttle to allow air in. the IAC controls the air flow at idle when you have nothing on the throtte. lemme know how that goes
