Default Worried about engine temperature...

On any given day when the temperature outside reaches 70 degrees or warmer, the temp. gauge in my car exceeds 195 degrees. Today, it creeped up to 230 degrees (it was 90 today)... just barely at the "red" zone. Also, the air conditioner tends to blow "cool" air rather than cold air. All this within a matter of minutes after I start the car. The thermostat works fine. Whenever I'm in idle or the car's not moving, it'll cool. However, as soon as I press the gas pedal, up it goes. I'm thinking the problem may be the water pump but I'm not sure. If anyone has experienced this situation before or has an alternative solution, please, I need help!!

Bleed your lines and look for a coolant leak. i had the very same problem and it turned out i had a bad hose that leaked slowly allowing coolant out but air in. started to build up air in the coolant system. changed the hose, bled the lines, and now it doesnt get nearly as hot.

Well, I figured out what was wrong. It wasn't the water pump like I first expected and there wasn't a coolant leak like Gangly had suggested. As it turns out, there was a part or something? blocking air into the radiator. I've never noticed that before, I had always thought that part belonged there. It's been about 7 days since I removed that part and it hasn't been past the 210 mark! Hooray!
Oh yeah, the reason why the a/c wasn't blowing so cold was because it was low on refrigerant. It's blowing really cold now.
