Also kind of expensive, since he paid almost $30 for it I believe. get on top with your knees on the rad support, its a tight fit but it can be done for #6 , I also did #8 from the bottom taking nothing off , and i have stock manifolds/ y pipe
I am sure the smell was just dirt/grease/ oil burning off I had the same thing , as long as it goes away your allright
But i did not use a socket wrench. I used the spark plug socket but it had a hex on the end so i could use a wrench on the end instead of socket wrench.. SOOO much easier that way as i have LT headers also.

that is exactly how i did it. my only additional hint is find someone with really skinny arms.
Also - don't be afraid to look like you really love your motor in an unnatural way. Kneel on it, lay on top of it, across it - anything that helps position your arms properly - thats probably one of the best pieces of advise I got.
