Default Looking at a 93 z28

Hey guys, Not too familiar with the lt1's in 93. I know they do not have the vented optispark but how are the motors over all ? Found a deal on one local and thinking about picking it up to use the motor for a swap project.

its an LT1. difference between 93s and the rest of the LT1s is a few things.

No vented opti like you said
Bank injection
Speed Density (no maf) which is probably better for u since you are swapping
if its a stick, it has a lower geared trans.

Didn't they have the 700R4 instead of the 4L60E?

Everything said about is true. 93 Z's came in two flavors:

93s are batch fire, it fires all 4 injectors on the side and not the invidual cylinder.

Check if it has the 120 or 150MPH speed. If 150MPH it is a PEG II optioned car and has the 245 Z=rated tires and performance axle = 3.23s. If the speed-O goes to 120 then it has 235 none Z rated tires, 2:73 and a speed limiter of 110MPH ( <- i think that's where it's set ).

The things to check on 93s are the exhaust header bolts ( Drives rear and pass front are known to shear off. Also check the back on the manifold for the oil leak.

That isn't right. The Caprices and Roadmasters got LT1's with iron heads.

700R4's are good transmissions in my oppinion, BUT even with a good build they still won't hold up as well as a 4L60E. But then again a 4L60E won't hold up like a 350/400 turbo either, It's all about preference I guess. They do however have OD which the 350/400 turbo's don't. I'd say if your not planning on making a whole lot of power, it will be fine. But you should put a stall, shift kit, and a cooler on it.....You'll like the way it reacts after that If you buy it, good luck, and get us some pics.......JAMES

You guys keep sayin 700R4..I think it was actually called a 4L60.
Granted they are both the same pretty much, but I think that was the actual designation for it.

it was a 4L60. i dont know what the diff is between them... besides the labeling. 4 stands for how many gears.. L means Longitude (Rear wheel drive) and 60 is the torque/hp rating.

the newer monte carslows have the 4T60E. cause they were transverse (front wheel drive)
