i hate lt1 cooling systems!!!!

i hate lt1 cooling systems!!!! blew the heather hose with the crimped ends and bleeder valve piece. fixed that and drained the coolant. filled radiator back up, and let air out via bleeding screw with the radiator cap on. drove it 60 miles with no issue. 4 hours later i go to the store real quick, and it gets to the red as i pull into the parking lot. i shut it down fast and got out. i popped the hood and turned the bleeder screw and left it open for like 3 mins and only air was coming out. turned the car and heater on, and coolant started coming out. i closed the valve and drove home with no issue. i get home pop the hood, and same thing with the air coming out for a few minutes. after it stopped, i took the cap off, and it took almost a gallon of water. started it back up, turned the heater on, and opened the bleeder until coolant came out in a steady stream, then closed it back up. the gauge would jump from 1/2 to 3/4 then back to 1/2. does this just sound like air bubbles in the coolant system? im gonna jack up the car in the morning to get the bleeder up higher, and make sure the radiator is full before i start it. Please help!!!!
That's your problem..you need more Antifreeze..use 2 Gallons and the rest water, not just 1 Gallon. It's damn near 4 Gallons total..and almost 3 of it goes in the Engine..lol

i know its not the actual coolant causing the issue, im thinking it has air pockets in the system causing the gauge to jump up periodically. i may just replace the cap for good measure.

Whenever I work on mine and I used the bleeder screws they seem to let more damn air in that out. I usually open up the cap and let it run for a bit like that. Seems to work fine, my gauge never gets over 180 with a 160 tstat and a tune.
It's not bled properly. And don't listen to the bs about you not having enough coolant thats not the problem since coolant cools worse than water, and there is no way in hell you drained the block + radiator from a simple hose poping off. Are you using both bleeder screws or just one? What I do is open both up and keep the radiator topped off until coolant starts coming out of both bleeders then close them. Then start the car up and let it heat up so the coolant system pressurises and then open both bleeders again 1 at a time to get any remaining air left out of it.
