Default Cast vs Forged crank

I need some help deciding on a rotating assy. I know that forged is much better, but $$$ has gotten tight, so I'm gonna try to put together a motor I can afford now. I was thinking about using a cast steel crank with some good 6" rods, which I can get at a good price. If I spray it, it will only be 100 shot. Im prolly going to go with an LE1.5 or LE2 top end kit. The car will have all the usuals like LT, ORY, 4.10 gears, PCMForless tune, etc. I don't want to buy a forged crank if a cast will do. I have a couple LT1 blocks, so if I want to build a turbo or blower later, I will go forged then. Thanks for any help.

I hear that the stock cast cranks are pretty strong...you'll definately be fine with a stocker. not too sure on the record though...

mine lasted though 100 and 150 shots. Blew my piston and rod but they both damaged the crank. Built new motor but went with forged for more nitrous...

Your decisions. They can both hold lots of power.

I was think about going to a 383. I was looking at Eagle cast steel cranks w/ ESP 6" rod. What do you guys think. As I stated before, this is a street driven car that might see a 150 shot at the most.

For your power goal I would stay with a cast crank. There good for a few extra ponys over the forged piece also.

The cast eagle cranks aren't much stronger than a stock crank. The tolerances will be much tighter on the eagle and it will have bevels on the rod journals for more bearing area (or something like that). Just stick with stock unless you can get one really cheap or messed it up.
