Default Help with my 60fts they seem weak.

Car is 96z28 vert .Raceweight 3815 .I weigh like 240.
Recent track runs got 2.16 and 2.17 on nittos best and did one run on et streets. Got 2.05 on the et streets at 20psi. Did water box burnout. pretty sure I dead hooked. I am not sure though that am taking advantage of my stall properly. Buddy gets 2.05 60fts on his car with 3.23s and no stall. His mods are flowmaster catback, underdrive pulley, cold air, no stall ,1.6 rockers, no headers or cam or heads. His car is like 300 pounds lighter raceweight though. He weighs 120.

Now not all mods in my sig are installed. I have magnaflo catback, air induction mods, underdrive,3.42 gears, 2800 vigilante, usually run my nittos but borrow his new et street radials. I have tuning program but car was at stock tune for fuel this most recent track trip. Density air was bad like 4000 ft.
Still shouldn't I be able to get a 1.8 out of my stall? Or do I need more power mods to get that since my car is heavy. I could have went higher stall but planning on heads and already have 305 cam and pro mags and mac headers waiting for install.
What is proper way to use that vigilante. Do I flash stall it and what exactly is that. Also I try to take it up at the line but the car seems to start sliding around. My brakes are pretty shot ,should I buy a line lock and of course will get new brakes. Should I be tring to get the stall to 3000 at the line or something or what? I have heard the vig would take off like 5 tenths .
I got a 14.3 at like a 2.18 60ft pre stall. So a 2.04 is not that great to me now and why did going to a 2.04 from a 2.16 this time around not give me much at all for et. I got a 14.28 best with 93.86 mph with that 2.04 60ft on et street radials. I got a 14.33 with 94.49 with the nittos at 2.16 60ft. I would have thought that 2.04 would have put me in the 13s.

If yoru car is only trapping 94mph there is something major wrong with it. I'de fix that first before you blame the stoal.

Car is a vert ,auto and track is 1600 feet above sea level. density air was 4000 on saturday when made my latest runs. Also don't have my headers or cam or 1.6 rockers installed yet. And of course not using nitrous yet.
And my raceweight is still 3815.

If your dead hooking, anything above a 2.0 60ft is no good. With my setup on Nitto's, I pull a 1.8 60ft. I played around with stalling it up, but I got no gains out of it. There was no difference in my times if I were to just punch it, stall to 1,500, or 2,500. I dead hook on all my launches too. Just play around with it and see if it will help in your case.

Also like stated, your car probably isn't up to par. Then again, the DA doesn't sound too good for performance. But I'm not a drag racing guru to tell how bad a 4,000 DA will slow you down.

1600 feet is not that high of an altitude. I don't believe your car is up to snuff. Your MPH converts to 95.6 MPH at sea level. Every stock, good running LT1 I've seen runs faster.

Try ET Streets at about 12 psi. I seemed to have my best launches at that pressure. Make sure you are getting the tires good and hot.

my car was trapping 99-100 with 2.73's and a stock stall

now i got a 2800 stall and it picked up 2 tenths on my 60' off the bottle, down to a 1.9. my 2.1's were mainly due to lack of horsepower (bolt on car) and a super tall gear

haven't run it on the bottle with the stall yet but i'm hoping to break into the 1.4's now with the 2.73's

find out why your car is only getting 94 mph out of it before blaming the 60'.

What rpm are you shifting at? when I let the car shift in drive at 5300 rpm I was in the 14.20 area @ 96.5 mph...then I tried shifting at 5600 to 5700 rpm and picked up to 13.78 @ 101...try different shift points, the factory shift point sucks.

Car is set to shift at 5600 right now redline bumped to 6000 as was hitting the limiter with my 3.42 and stall. I am on stock cam right now my 305 and 1.6 rockers and mac headers are not installed.
There is no way my car would get 99 to 100mph. My car is a vert with raceweight of 3815! Buddies car that is 300 pounds or 400 pounds lighter he weighs 120 I weigh 240.only gets 99 to 100 mostly 98 at our track. Our track is 1600 feet and density air the other day was 4000!
He has `1.6 rockers and pretty much same other mods as me. I am hoping to get close to 100 mph with headers installed and bit more tuning and maybe a cutout. I was hoping to see at least 110 to mabye 112 out of my heavy vert with heads, headers, cam ,rockers and other little bolt ons. I have zex kit that can put on too. Goal is 11s with nitrous and 12s NA.
I know my plugs are shot but its so hard to change them out right now have to pretty much wait until do the big modfest next spring. I think my mph should be about 96mph tuned and running 100%.

Keep that in mind guys.I am a heavy vert. Not a light z28.

Does that mean headers and cold air.You are at sea level maybe? I had 4000 density air the other day. How much do you weigh zfan88. And what mods do you have now?
Gears,stall,cam,rockers ,heads..?? nitrous?

And not sure why you suggested that trans am ws6. As you can see from my sig I have a serious 99 trans am. The 96z vert is the wifes car techically but I bought it ,I plate it and gas it and fix it and mod it since I like driving it too. I always loved the lt1s. I realize its not that fast right now but have the cam,1.6 and headers and zex wet kit, just waiting on heads for it to finish it all up.

I could just as easily have said why don't you sell your lt1 and buy an ls1. The ls1 are much faster right out of the box. 50 to 75 hp faster. Buddies 01 with just headers, lid and 3.73 gears and spec 3 hits low 13s and his 3rd gear is totally gone he has to put it into third! On street tires he gets like 2.18 60fts. Worn out tires. This is on the street our local track is really hard to hook on . You need et street radials there pretty much. Anyway with third gear his car is already doing 12s at 1600 feet above sea level.
I have demodded my 99 trans am in preparation for the twin turbo kit but not sure if installing them this year or next spring with new motor. Seems kind of pointless to install on near stock engine. Feel much safer with forged motor. Anyway I love my lt1 cars too. I had a 96ta, 97 taws6 with quite a few bolt ons and now the 99 trans am ws6 and keeping it although might get a c6 down the road a bit. But would still keep the 99 trans am. It is pretty much my dream TA, always liked tas and always wanted a twin turbo ta. Too bad it took me 49 years on this planet to finally get it together but its here now.

Sorry to get off topic but its my thread..LOL

But appreciate the suggestions and stuff on the 96z. I do think my mph is maybe 2 mph low. Keep in mind that 305 cam and 1.6 rockers and mac headers are not on the car yet. Either is the zex wet kit. Just installed my racetronix fuel pump and doing ajustable regulator today. The factory one was hurting or something it was low on pressure. Putting in a fast reg this afternoon. Also car is set to factory rich tune right now. I have jet laptop program to tune it with and will lean it down right away and see if can get a few more mph. I have to use my timing device now called a tazzo.Track is closed for year now. Tazzo was 2.5 mph high for mph and about a tenth off for et and right on for 60ft. Times above are track times.

I'm not the one complaining about the performance of my car. I don't want an ls1. I love the sound of lt1 over ls1. I'm completely satisfied with my car and I love the fact that I rarely ever see a lt1 ws6. I see ls1 ws6 daily.

btw... didn't even look at your sig. but that 99 sounds badass

I've never weighed my car but it can't be much less than yours. I have an M6 though, and I've removed AC, but haven't taken anything out from under the dash. I'm leather and fully loaded as well. Oh, and I weigh 240-250 as well

I ran the 13.4 at 104 with headers, ory, and a K&N intake. My 60' was somewhere around 2.0-2.1, and that's where I'm usually at. I had a mail order tune, but it was setup for nitrous and probably hurt me more than anything going n/a. My et would be much better as I usually bog it off the line. I'm not used to racing at the track
