I'm basically running what you are, except I have a little better exhaust, and a chip, and I plan to run what .044. Just because that's what the TR55 listing said

I'd do .050. That's GM's specs so there's not too much reason to do something different for a stock engine. Some do like pntbll said and gap em a little tighter to compensate for wear. I have not checked into benefits of that too much so I can't really tell you if it's better or worse than the factory gap.
