need help with fuel

need help with fuel i am just starting to finish my lt1 build up and i have noticed that from the two fuel lines going into the fuel pressure regulator there is an extra line that is not as short. what could that line be? it looks like fuel does not come out of it. sorry i can take a picture to show.
