Kooks or Pacesetter LT's ? i want to buy some LT's dont know if i should get Kooks or Pacesetter race. i would also like to know how long O2 extention to buy? this car isnt a daily driver. i would like to know everyones opinion. |
buy pacesetters, save your cash, when i did my 96 ta i used a 24" and a 12", the 24 was too long, id get 2 12"s |
i would say kooks.... alot nicer and easier to install b/c you dont need to take off the steering.... they will also out last the pacesetters being stainless steel.... |
Pacesetters all the way. Nice for the money!! Taking the steering knuckle loose is a 5 minute job no big deal. I used 24" extensions and just tied them up nicely. |

Not to hijack, but wasn't there also some little company on here developing a set of stainless headers for the LT1 that cost about what Pacesetters do? Ive seen the LS1 pieces and they look awesome from the pics. Something to think about maybe. Last I heard they're supposed to be available in the near future. Just thought I'd throw that out there. |

thanks everyone for the input. I'm planning to go threw the engine and make 500+ hp in the future. dont know if i should get pacesetter and end up needing a better LT like Kooks or stick with pacesetter. Money is always a issue, but if i need Kooks then thats what ill get. just wanted to know what everyone thought, before making a big purchase.

Well if you have the cash why not go for the higher end product? Im sure Pacesetters will hold their own, but the Kooks will make a bit more power. Also look into which will stand up to future mods. |

In this case more expensive is not always better..I have yet to see a single thread showing gains of before and after going from standard headers to pacesetters. The difference in gains between cars is more than likely the condition of the engine, the dyno or the weather. Personally I say not to waste your money on the kooks. You will never feel the difference in power that they *MIGHT* generate. The only thing you will get is a longer life but if you take care of the pacesetters they should last a long time as well. |

they will perform almost the same the difference here is the build materials and fitment. I have heard some people have a few fitment issues with the pacesetters and I have also heard the coating is not real good.Like someone mentioned keep a look out for the company on here developing a affordable high quality stainless header. that seems as it may be the best of both worlds there. |
I would imagine the power differences would be very slight. I have never seen a back to back dyno comparo though. You're basically paying twice as much for the Kooks. These aren't torque converters, you don't HAVE to go with the expensive option to get lasting performance. You said the car isn't a daily, so it probably only sees god weather. I would do Pacesetters in you spot. |
