Default Stroker LT1, what else need?

I called a local shop today and got an estimate for $3000 to $3500 for a 383 stroker kit installed. All parts and labor included with head work. I was wondering how good of a price this is, and what else on the car would need to be upgraded. He said it should be between 425 and 450 horsepower. It would be a daily driver in the summer so he told me I would have a smaller cam in it. But I just wanted to bounce this off of some people who know what they are talking about and see what you people think. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Actually it sounds extremely cheap. That price includes building the motor, porting the heads, plus installation? If so, something doesn't seem right.

For an LT1, that's insanely cheap especially considering that price includes installation. Depending on component selection, the rotating assembly and miscellanous gaskets could be $2500 alone.

Something doesn't sound right, but if that's the true price then that's the bargain of the century!

That sounds strange to me about half of what it should be. What parts are you going to use in it????

Tim,
You need to find out what type of parts they are going with, for example a stander 383 stroker kit from Lunati will run about 2600-2800 depending on the type of pistons you go with and a few other various things, then you add a cam on top of that, plus machine work, plus porting of heads, plus the labor to assemble the motor and install it....you are looking at around 6000 easy...so this is extremely good. I don't know the shops reputation but it sounds to me like they may already have a used motor that they are just going to sell you. Or they are using extremely cheap parts....good luck with it.
