Default 700r4 DILEMA

So I found the source to the leak I had on my tranny, and it was the speed sensor (it completely broke off). So here's the thing. When I changed the sensor, I put in 2 quarts of tranny fluid to fill her up, and ever since then, I seem to have lost the tranny dipstick, so its hard to monitor the fluid level without one. So about a week later (today) I poured in another quart to be safe, (car was hot and running in my driveway) so i poured in the quart. Then within 5 seconds I see smoke from underneathe, and i crouch down to find fluid leaking onto the floor and the pass. side header, causing it to smoke. There was a good amount on the floor, like 2 square feet covered, but not 1 quart's worth (which I poured in). So my question is, does it sound like I have another bad leak? Or is there some kind of overflow valve on the tranny, which caused it to spill because of me potentially overflowing it?

I take it you have a 93 car? If so just buy a newer 4l60-E and a newer computer harness and computer and call it a day. Get rid of the ol 700R4. You'd get to control where the car shifts not the tranny making the decisions.

There's nothing wrong with having a 700R4. I prefer it, since I can change my TB w/o having to change a bunch of settings due to increased airflow. I'll keep my 700R4 over the 4L60E thanks.

As for what happened, I can't tell you. Go buy a dipstick from the junkyard.

you prob have too much fluid in it.it will do the same thing you said... you need to get a new dipstick and then you might need to get under your car and loosen up the trans pan to let the extra fluid out to the right amount.

There is an overflow tube at the top of the tranny.. at least there is for a 4L60E. Mine would over flow and burn on the exhaust once it got really hot cause I had too much fluid in it. Either you have way too much oil since your car was only idling when it over flowed, or it's some other leak.
