I still do not know where the fuddle bashing has come from besides their spurt of less then favorable customer service over a year ago. Quality wise they have always been great pieces. I have been DD'ing their mid level converter for a bit over a year, and it is an amazing piece for the price of $450+ shipping with a great warranty and restall option. It has a lot of the same specs that many other high end convertors use - 1/2in balloning plate, larger and stronger clutch, hand brazed fins, etc. It is the cheaper furnace brazed restalled stockers and low end cheap convertors like B&M and TCI's that can really hurt a cars potential.

Yes, I have driven other convertor brands before - a 2800 TCI POS that felt like a 3400, and a 3000 edge that was a huge improvement. My 3200 fuddle I have now is most definetly on par with the edge I had while being 50+ bucks less, and I cannot tell the difference in drivability(it is only rated 200rpm higher so even among the same brand will not feel much different...).

I cannot make a comment on dyno numbers or times variation since it is a different car, but their are definetly worst brands to go with then a fuddle. Not saying a Yank isnt better - it most definetly is - but fuddle is not garbage, and is more then enough for all but the most extreme street/strip LT1s.

So is there nobody else on here that uses Hughes Racing converters? It seems to be a great converter and dropped my e.t. over half a sec. Now I haven't used any others before but I've never had any problems with mine.

Puck there were a few discussions about Fuddle converters awhile back. Someone posted quite a few pics that showed similiarities between the clutch fuddle used compared to a stock GM 4cyl lock up clutch.

Stall wall issue may or may not be present in a 94/95 app.

I have considered them before but never actually got much feedback either.

What "level" converter was it? I would expect a similar to stock clutch in the base ~$350 one. The mid and top level converters most definetly use a much larger then stock clutch.

I've seen some converters with two dimentionals dia...

let's say 10"/12" 10" part for hi stall and 12" part for the lock up
they say 12" for lock up is far better for lock up accuracy & stamina
( longevity)
are these really better then straight all 10" or 9.5" (function wise?)

a good t/c is quite an investment ,...

Lockup material has come a long ways, no real need to have the big 12" clutch, really you should not need to lockup at WOT so it is just cruise that is locking anyway. My lockup is set very aggressively and I often pass slower traffic on rural roads without stepping hard enough to unlock but hard enough to accelerate well and it does not seem to slip.

Flashes to 4300, foot brake to 3500. It is very effecient, On the dyno I made 441 rwhp unlocked and 463 rwhp locked.

I've been happy with my Performabuilt 9.5" 3000 stall. It drives good on the street and knocked a little over four tenths off my sixty foot times.

Glad to hear it. I often think our converters get over looked and they are really and excellent product just not promoted as well as they should be so many miss out.
