Default Single Digit Guys Inside

Need alittle input. I plan on building a 383 this winter. All Lunati bottom end, Huge Custom grind HR cam, and a 300 shot DP nitrous. Talked to Lloyd, and AI. Both told me different things as far as what heads to run. I have the LE2 heads on my car now, and Lloyd said I will be just fine with them and ill only see about a 15 hp gain from the heads I have now over a set of Trickflows. AI on the other hand begs to differ and feels like selling me a set of $2400 heads. Now if there is going to be a huge difference here ill cough up the dough and buy the heads, but I just feel AI wants my money because if it were the case of ported Trickflows being so wonderful over the stockers, why wasnt Lloyd trying to sell me a pair of his ported Trickflows or AFR's? Im shooting for very low 10's / high 9's. Think its possible?

Pff, for $2400 I'd be wanting your money too... But I hear my stock 93 heads outflow even L98 heads >_> I'm bored, sorry.

Well I have been running Lloyds heads for a few years, have had LE2's, LE Trickflows and now have LE3's, they all work and I have been low 10's on with LE2's and a 175shot, 9.80's, TrickFlow's and 200shot. Now with the LE3's and a solid roller 11.00@121mph on motor but will spray it soon to see what it will do. Goodluck Clint

I am running a set of Lloyd's heads(LE-X) and they will support what he says they will. Only thing been holding my car back is time n the seat and time in the tune. I am so busy tuning other peoples cars I never realy get time to tune mine

If I had a trans brake it would probably be faster yet. I am still foot brakeing a 4L60E.

You should be good

The ports on your heads are pretty big, but if i recall, you have stock valves. If so, and it was me, I would just send them back to LE and have the stock valves replaced with bigger race valves ( back cut + swirl ) then I think they will support your needs. I'd build the motor with those and use the $2400 towards a rear and suspension to support the power your going to be making.

Also remember 9's mean a whole new set of rules to be NHRA compliant: full cage, certified, nets, chutes, ect, ect ect..... That's why I plan to stop at 10 flat.

If you want a bad *** head go to EB porting. Ive got stock LT1 heads with a medium hyd roller cam and put 427 down to the wheels. By the way that was stock pcm and stock intake and 11.2:1 CR. Nothing drastic. Depending on your budget I'd look at AFR220's, Accel DFI ,and and a nasty solid roller 10 thousand bucks later you could be in the 9's all motor

Thanks for all the replies everyone. I already have a direct port intake on the way, and a few other goodies.

John - the heads are a full out le2 head w/ bigger valves all ready to go.

The AI Trickflows are nasty heads. I would cough up some coin for a set of heads like that.

Your going to probly need to go SR if you plan on hitting it with 300hp. Thats a lot of work for a hyd. setup.

Tony.

Sure. I said 'this car is staying 100% stock', well maybe JUST headers, well maybe gears, well, just a cam. OK, 383 stroker and blower. Well, the headliner is still stock!

So Sure I can stop at 10's......

And BTW back. You better A) learn to get in and out of a car with a cage without doing physical damage to yourself. B) start stealing ice packs and bandages from work!
