Opti Question
Opti Question Alright i have a feeling that my opti is going bad as well... i read other posts on here but don't want to hijack any of their posts... but anyway, my car seems to run strong sometimes, but every once in a while when i am at WOT from the middle of 1st gear, my car basically seems like it is gettin flooded with fuel and kinda sputters and chokes on itself until it shifts into second... also, the car backfires every once in a while, and sometimes after i get on it i get a smell of gas... and the car def. runs rich at start up, but im sure thats common for most cars with as many miles as mine... and it probably helps to know that my car has 145k on it
i dont have any issues with the car dying randomly or anything like that though
ive never had the car die on me... and its been left idling for like 2 hours once because i locked my keys in it on accident lol

when i bought mine at 100k it always had a weird feeling like the motor wasnt running smooth i replace the plugs and wires and coil at 114 like 2 weeks ago and its still there i have a miss at 5,400 so im thinking opti my self fuel pump was changed at 97k as well as the injectors at gm
well as soon as i got the car i put new plugs, wires, flushed every type of fluid and replaced, and also had to fix the AC compressor because a bearing in it went out...
. just thought about something... would a bad o2 sensor be a problem? because i know for a fact mine is on the verge of being shot because it has been on a scanner and showed up as bad, and when i drive long distances the check engine light comes on and off periodically...

saturday night at about 4 in the morning i was takin my drunk friend home... all of a sudden the car starts chokin and dyin like it was out of gas... pull over on the side of the road and start pushin... get back in the morning.. no fuel pressure
turns out the fuel pump was going out of it, and had one of my friends's dads come look at it because he is a mechanic at a local dealership... confirmed that it is the pump
call around to see how much it would be to replace the pump... cheapest is $1250... most expensive is $1750... so she got trailered home about 2 hours away so we can do it ourselves when i get home...
