opti spark
opti spark I'm having this problem. I just put the motor to gether and it was running but ruff, it seemed that the timing was way to high. Now it won't even start as if it went way out of time. I took it apart and I could move my rotor about 2inches back and forth. I noticed it seems like the opti is not catching the dowel pin in the cam. Has anyone had this issue? Any tips? Its raining right now so I will try to work on it tomorrow. I'll apreciate any info thanks!

I am having trouble with my car not starting also. I replaced the opti and it still won't start. Someone here said that the opti can be installed three different ways... but I don't see how. Are you sure you have the right opti as I believe some have a longer cam pin than the earlie models, I think starting in 1995 the cam requires a longer cam pin than the pre 1995 cars. I think you will need to change your cam or at least find a way to install a longer pin.

all this info is for a fbody corvettes and caprices are different on the years
93-94 is a non vented opti- it has a splined shaft that slides into the rear of it. it can be installed wrong. if you search for my posts there is a description of how to do it correctly
95-97 is a vented opti that has a clover looking thing on the back the pin that comes out of the cam goes into a specific one of 3 "notches" on th rear of the opti. I forget what one as i have a 94 car.
for vented optis there are 2 different pin lengths. that also is defined by year. again I have no idea and would rather spread no information than incorrect info.
