I am getting a new tune this winter and I am thinking of going with either MadZ28 or PCMforless. I would like to know what you guys think of them.

there's been plenty of good from both them, but some bad, as well. however, the general consensus is that half the people who get a mail-order tune eventually end up getting a dyno tune, simply because they want more of a custom tune designed specifically for their motor.

I used trifecta I havent seen many people talk about them.sponser on the right.very happy with sop dyno.It is also a very user friendly system. They ship you a tuner with a custom tune plug it in your car, load it then ship the tuner back.

i just don't trust any of the shops around here to tune my car. I have heard so many horror stories about all of them.

iv used madz28 and my car runs fine. you can just get a lot more power out of a dyno tune.

A mail order tune is a good starting place for your tune. If you plan on finishing the tune yourself, taking it to a shop later, or just want to get the car running, they are fine.

I believe the 93 model has a chip, so you can't use Tunercat or LT1Edit on it. You would have to have a chip burner to mod the tune.

so dyno tune is out of the question? unless i put a 94+ computer in it but 93 is batch fire so i would have to change wiring harness correct?

You can do chips with TC, provided you have the correct def file, and a chip burner.
Theres also TC RTT that you can use in conjunction with a Moates Autoprom to tune in real time.

Alvin is probably THE BEST in the business for mail order chips.

so with pcmforless how long does it take for them to send you a modified tune with their 6 month deal they got? Has anyone had better success with a rt tuner compared to a regular tuner?

Emulation and an Rt tuner will save you a huge ammount of time, you can make a change and it will take effect instantly rather than make a change burn a chip over and over. Then when you get done burn a chip with your modified program till you get ready to tinker again. The real trick is knowin what tables to change to get where you wanna be, and thats what you really pay for with a tune.

Well I use Madz28 now Madtuner. Ion knows his stuff, I'm very very pleased with my tune. But then again I favor him because he's about an hour from my house as well. So I just drive over. I can tell you for certain that the man knows his **** about pcm tuning. When I cam the car I'll definitely be heading back over to Madz28.

I've used pcmforless twice, no complaints from me. The first tune with some minor bolt-ons was DEAD ON, just an amazing tune. The second tune was with a set of heads, a big cam, etc. We used his tune and it gave us a great baseline to start with for final tweaking with tunercat. Have to make some more changes now, due to a single plane intake being installed, but it still runs decent. I ordered a new computer from him in the past also, so I wouldn't have any down time, just swap and go, he always has extras on hand. For the second tune I had him email the tune overnight to my friend with tunercat, and again, he came through without a hitch.
