My brother was looking at this and asked me where my vacuum hoses were? I have never seen any connected to this. I still don't know every odd and end of the LT1. I'm not familiar with what this component is. Driver side, just before the 1st spark plug.

Is there supposed to be vacuum hoses connected to this or not? and what component is this?

does the car still have the air injection pump on it. I don't remember for sure but that plug in looks like the plug I taped out of the way when I removed my air injection pump.

I could be totally wrong on this, I myself am not highly familiar just yet with the LT1 as I just purchased mine about a month ago. Based on my GM experience, it looks like a MAP sensor. Like I said, could be way off.

Honestly, I don't know. This is exactly how the car was when I got it. How would I verify that?

MAP sensor is at the top of the motor near the throttle body, passenger side.

The manifolds go up and over the primaries to dump into one. Definitely not a great design. I'm not hiding a turbo

Yes its for you AIR pump.. I don't know if you have emission testing for not.. But would take it all off.. The pump is right in front of the sensor you have shown. (front as in toward the rad. ) There is a whole list of AIR and EGR stuff you can take off.. Neither leaving it or taking it off will gain you any HP, but just make the engine bay ALOT cleaner.

That's what it is. It's in a different spot than mine, but mines a 93, lots is diff. Mines up on the Drv side of the intake.

If you have EGR or AIR delete, thats why it's not hooked up. It goes from the intake to that solenoid, then to the EGR valve. I deleted EGR/AIR via chip and so I just unhooked all the vac lines and plugged everything off.

It is part of the A.I.R. system as stated above. I believe it is a cutoff valve. The weird thing is, on my 97 Hawk, it came like that from the dealer. I don't know who changed it but the valve was there with no vacuum lines going to it and the wiring harness was disconnected and had a small plastic piece plugged into it which I assume was to keep the computer happy. However the pump was still working fully. There are two Vacuum diagram stickers on the car. One which was added by SLP (I guess as it is on the hood). One shows the valve not connected to anything and the other has it connected in line. I thought it might have been this way because it is a California emissions car. Either way it isn't necessary along with the rest of the A.I.R. system. Pull all the crap off if you don't live in an emissions area.

It's the wiring for the AIR system. However, there was a recall back around '98-'99, as I got the recall notice for my '96 Z-28. The dealer unhooked the plug, and put the cap in place, and that was it.

Even with mine programmed out (even though it is a 93), unplugging it threw a code right away.

Get checked, if you fail, hook it all up. If you pass, say thanks and drive off into the sunset.

Yeah, our county is strict on emissions. One of the first to have emissions testing. Can't move right now..

It's your AIR bleed valve. The only way you could fail is if the inspector crawls in there and sees it's not hooked up. Like stated, there was a recall on this so you'll most likely get away with it disconnected.
