Default New Best, but broke the trans...

I'm re-posting this from the drag racing section for the LT1 folks around here...I finally got to the track to test out my new suspension/rear end/tire changes and mods...Made 7 wheels up launches all were fairly identical, but here's the best pass:

60' 1.52
1/8 7.14
MPH 95.22
1/4 11.23
MPH 121.18 N/A

On the last pass the trans let go, so far it appears the output shaft broke..I can't bitch too much it was built over 3 years ago and I've been beating on it for over 3 years...Oh well, we'll fix it and be back soon...

Congrats again Alan. Very nice times.
Looks like a TH400 might be in your future. It's the next logical step.
Just don't get on the Interstate during the holidays!

Nice run! Too bad about the trans, but they're consumables in this sport, right?

Well, I talked to the trans builder today and we are puttin' it back together...making a few upgrades from the last time it was built and re-stalling the Vig to 4000 from 3600...I hope to be back out before the snow!! I hope...

The output shaft is what broke and took most of the hard parts with it...I'll just have the trans checked yearly now that its launching really well...The Vig 4000 and some more suspension tuning should help me get some 1.4X 60's...I'm still sticking with the 4L60E...I hope it all works out...

Are you going to get it back together in time for some more track passes or are the tracks closed for the year up there?

Dropped #1 intake valve and tore up one of the combustion chambers pretty good, and while it was still running with the valve not being there it pushed all the metal pieces and shavings that were being made while the valve was bouncing around back up into the intake manifold and it sucked it down in the other cylinders, doing other minor damage. They can be fixed but it will take a lot of work with the die grinder and welding.

Well, the converter is on its way to PI to get freshened and re-stalled to 4000 from 3600 and the trans is going back together..The rear checks out ok so it would seem that (knock on wood) I could be back out in a week or so...May even get an 11.teen outta this thing before the snow...

<<<<typing while holding breath with fingers crossed...

Congrats Alan. Sounds like you're definitely heading in the right direction. Hopefully you get rid of those tranny gremlins and head full steam into the 10s

What can I say Alan, your car's performance is an inspiration to guys like me who share the "less is more" mentality.

Keep up the good work.
