Default LS1 springs on an LT1?

Can I run SS LS1 springs on my 96 Z? Also someone told me once that the car will be a tad lower (Aluminum vs Cast Iron motors) so the springs will sit lower. Is this just a load of bullshit or is this true? If it is true what concerns me is that the springs might get over stress from the weight since it's not made for the car?

What I'm hoping to accomplish is to lower the car 1/2 inch to 3/4 of an inch the max. The LT's with the cutout are so low as it is I worry about clearance issues (especially with the streets around my area).

should've posted this in the suspension/steering section. at first i thought you meant valve springs.

the rear springs will work as both cars are identical. the fronts idk but im almost sure you can. since we have the same A arms.

Answer to your querstion, yes you can use the LS1 suspension springs on the Lt1, I've got them on my car. Don't know what the drop was, 1/2 to 3/4 or less sounds about right. Depends on the spring rate though.

Ok great! And for my last question. Would anyone know if I would still need adjustable suspension? With just a 1/2 inch or so dropped, do I still need to by adj lca's pan hard etc...? Or can I get away with the non adj stuff.

Adj panheard might be an idea, it'll help center your rear. With little drop it's not really needed, but it also depends on how centered the rear is now and how wide a tire you are running.
I personally like the aftermarket LCAs, but you don't need adjustable length. However, a drop rear control arm mount is nice for traction.

If you do go LCAs, consider getting some with rod ends - no binding is a wonderful thing.
