Hard starting and won't idle right
Hard starting and won't idle right I just got done and put a stock cam back in since I am short with cash. Now since i put it together its hard to start and you have to give it gas to get it started one its started it sometimes just wants to die right off the bat. When its running it idles between 1k and about 1500. I was just wondering what it could be. Thanks Calvin
ok now it won't start and smells of gas really bad. Took out spark plug one and it is dreanched with gas. but no gas comes out when you crank it over with the spark plug out. this car is a pain in the ***
its the stock cam. The cam came out of my friends 94 formula. do i need it tuned for the egr for it to start? also the pugs are really black but i chaged them about 1500 miles ago. Really need to get this car going i have senior pics this month.
Well the way you said it, it sounded like you had a different cam in and put the stock one back in. And for the egr- nope. That wouldnt keep it form starting. If you pulled the plug out and it was drenched in gas, your getting way too much fuel which is why i thought you might have had it tuned for a bigger cam. It could also be that your number one injector is stuck open and it wont start because it might be hydrolocking from way too much fuel in the chamber.

possible too much fuel being delivered or timing is way off. it's still sparking right? was everything at top dead center? I have never installed a cam but i know everything must be alligned properly when installing the cam. If it wasn't your timing would be off i think. Makes sense to me cause when timing is advanced a vehicle will have trouble starting. Now your plugs are covered in fuel so you can't even start it. Let us know what happens, good luck.
