Unhappy Lt1 Help!

I have a 97 30th Anniversary Z28. The heads were replaced by the guy who had the car before me and he put on some 350SB Vortec heads which replaced the stock LT1 heads that came on the car. Is this ok, good, bad, what??? Help??? I am having a lot of trouble fixing the other guys mistakes and I dont even know if these heads are ok for the car.....opinions?

if the heads were not welded up and drilled for the water ports to the cooling tubes THOSE HEADS WILL NOT WORK!since you said VORTEC i will assume the heads are cast iron L31 heads
get a set of alum. heads for an Lt1!
if possible can you take pix of this set up you have so we all can see?

If they are iron them maybe they are iron LT1 heads from a b-body.
Would take a complete idiot to put Vortec heads on an LT1 since the Vortecs are a standard coolant flow version of the LT1 iron head. Lots of plumbing, cooling and bolthole issues all to have no better head at all.

Aluminium holds not magical power making advantage, it does have some advantages most people get wrong. If you find they are indeed LT1 iron heads then leave well enough alone till you mod further as most of the LT1 aluminium heads flow less than the iron LT1 heads or Vortecs. The early low flowing LT1 aluminiums are the most desirable for porting though.

Pull a valve cover and get us a casting number.

The heads he put on were aluminum vortec heads. Not cast iron. I had a mechanic pull off my intake manifold to redo the gasket because of an oil leak at the back of it, and he noticed that there is no coolant flow through the intake...only at the back of the heads....I am having an issue with my low cooland light as well. I replaced the radiator cap thinking it was something simple at first and that was a no go...so I had a mechanic check it out and he said the sensor is working fine, so that makes me wonder if it doesnt have something to do with these heads. I dont know what happened to the LT1 heads that were originally on the car, but I have a reciept from the head purchase that the previous owner sent me...so I know what they are. The item number if it is relevant was GM2063. The casting number is 10207048. The reciept says they are 5.7 Aluminum Vortec Heads. Input????? I think the guy before me was a dumbass honestly!
