Default Cooling issues Please Help!!

first off yes I did a search of the forum and everything else seemed kind of vague. My freinds LT1 has been having overheating problems for quite some time we changed the thermostat, flushed the system and pressure checked it which held fine at 20 psi and did not spike while the car was running so I am assuming that the heads and head gasket are fine. He was losing coolant and the car wasn't leaking so initailly I thought that the head gasket was blown but after pressure checking the cooling system I don't think that is the problem. Fans don't come on until around 240 on the gauge cluster but I don't think those gauges are the most accurate. We started my LT1 and left running for about half an hour to see when my fans kick on and mine never went over 210 degrees so I don't feel that the cooling fans are really even that much of an issue at the moment under the conditions and ambient air temperature that it was running. Does anyone have any insight as to what this problem might be??

Have you tried bleeding the system of any air and putting on a new rad. cap? I had a similar problem in the spring. I do not drive my car much so I try to start it and let it run once a week. All of a sudden it started getting hot when I let it run. I checked the coolant and it was a little low. I topped it off and bleed the system. It did it again the next time. I couldn't find any other problems so I put a new rad. cap on and problem solved.

we pressure tested the cap to 18 psi and also tried to bleed the system of air but I don't know if I am doing it right as the Haynes manual isn't very specific.
