Default 9.77 @ 135

went to US41 tonight in some hot weather to try to step things up. ended up having a horrible evening at the track. was running over half a second off my normal NA times, and couldnt get the car to do anything off the line which really has me scratching my head. the passes it did do anything off the line it went so far sideways i had to throttle it on every pass. anyways, on my best and last pass managed a 9.77 @ 135. had a real ugly launch and dropped a cylinder about 200' from the start line on that pass. going to tear the motor down tomarrow and hopefully have it back at the track again next saturday to make a real pass

Am i missing somthing here?? What is the best pass you have ever made?? What type of motor/ power set up do you have. This allmost sounds like B.S. You ran a 9.77 on 7 cylinders??? If this is real, then you have a serious beast.

Congratulations on the run! What kind of fuel are you running? It seems that you may have a detonation problem?

Jim, it was definitly detonation. i got lazy and havent pulled it apart yet but i know for sure i pushed out a head gasket from detonating. i am using straight 110 leaded

i was having so many unexpected problems and chasing down so many issues that night at 41 that when stepping up the jets i forgot to pull some timing for the bigger shot. runs fine on the 75 and 100 jets with 34* timing across the board. the last couple passes i attempted were on a rich 200hp jetting. would have pulled 4* if i had my head on straight. on the pass before that 9.77 i felt the power drop off about half track, should have known then that it was detonating. my mind was more on how much i had to fight to keep it off the wall on that pass though. 138mph but only a 10.6 on that pass due to throttling multiple times and chasing it back from the wall. the car usualy hooks hard and goes 100% straight. on the last pass left off idle, went sideways and just had a 1.43 60'. about 300' out lost power big time and picked up a vibration from the cylinder going out. 112mph in the 1/8, so it must have lost even more power as it went farther down the track since to me 112mph seems like around 139-140?

anyways, ill quit babbling. probably wont make it out this weekend, but i will for sure be out in 2 weeks looking to make a huge improvement.

btw Jim, thanks for the awesome tuning job on my buddys vette you did recently. D. Sachman, the maroon stock internal vette that lingenfelter screwed up on. hes VERY happy with how much better the car feels after the tune

Darren, your car is well on its way to flying (not that it already isnt)! Sorry to hear about the problems. 112mph 1/8 is actually more like a 144mph 1/4 pass

looks like i might not have blown a head gasket. pulled 5 spark plugs and 3 are missing the electrodes. pressure test on the cooling system shows no pressure loss. im pretty happy with those times for having at least 3 melted spark plugs
