Default cd ignition box

my dads lookin to get me something in the 200 -300 dollar price range for christmas. not too many things i can use in that price range except gears and 1.6 rr which i already have covered. so im lookin at maybe ignition. i would like a cd ignition with rev limiter and preferably a window switch for if i ever go nitrous. what do you guys suggest? if i had to pick with no advice i would say the mallory 6al. i did a search and found a lot of good things about it. im sure msd has something to offer too. so let me know what is best for the money and my setup. i know an ignition is not at all necessary at my level but i already explained the situation so... give me your opinion or even a whole other idea for $200-300

I have the Mallory 685. Window switch, rev limit, 2 step, digital adjustments, extremely easy to hook up. I bought mine for $200 off the Mr. Gasket truck/trailer at the NMRA event at Beech Bend a while back.

The 685 is a good deal. No need for an external window switch. They had a rebate going if you send a dead or alive MSD box in. 6ALs are worth $50 IIRC.

not with the 6a box. you'd have to get rid of it.

Yeah MSD harness will work for Mallory. Colors aren't the same, but there's a simple chart for the differences.

You will pick up more bottom end TQ & HP with a CD ignition box, as well as better in town fuel economy. I never thought that it was that big of a differance until I diconnected the 6a box from the harness and re-hooked up my ignition back to stock. Another box to look at is made by Jacob's Electronics part number 342000 for a anolog style box with a chip rev limiter. The other digital part number is 343000. http://www.jacobselectronics.com/pdf/ignition_sys.pdf
